BLACKSBURG – The Virginia Tech baseball team will conclude a four-game homestand at English Field at Union Park on Tuesday night before heading out of town to finish off the month of April on the road. Today's game with the Keydets is scheduled for a 6 p.m. first pitch. Tech will then leave Blacksburg for five straight, facing Radford tomorrow at 6 p.m., heading to Coral Gables, Florida for a three-game ACC series at Miami over the weekend, and concluding the stretch at Old Dominion next Tuesday.
Tech enters the midweek games with a 22-18 overall record and is 7-14 in the ACC. The Hokies have won three straight midweek games by a combined score of 24-3 and are 15-4 overall in non-conference games this season, outscoring their opposition 135-55. They are 9-3 at home, 4-1 on the road and 2-0 on a neutral field. The 15 wins are the most by the program since the 2013 season, when the team won 20 non-conference games during the regular season, the last of 11 straight years of winning at least 16.

Quick notes on the VMI contest
- This will be the second meeting of the season between the two programs, as the squads met up earlier this season (April 2) in Lexington, Va.
- The Hokies used a five-run third frame, highlighted by a Nick Biddison grand slam, to propel them to a 13-1 victory. Dalton Harum added three home runs in the game, while Kevin Madden also went deep as the Hokies hit five that night. It was the most home runs hit by the team since March 28, 2017 versus Campbell (5) and the most hit on the road since February 26, 2017 at Nevada (6)
- It wasn't just a home run party in Lexington that night, as the Tech pitching staff combined to strike out 16 Keydets in the victory. Since 2005, a Tech pitching staff has struck out 16 or more batters just six times in a nine-inning game with the high being 18 vs. Navy on Feb. 20, 2005. The other five were 16-K games, a total of three times vs. VMI (also on April 4, 2007 and March 30, 2010), vs. Savannah State (May 8, 2010) and the last - and only time in ACC play - was on April 10, 2011 at Wake Forest.
- VMI enters the game with a 10-30 overall record and is 5-10 in the Southern Conference. Since the Tech setback, the team went 4-4 before being swept in a three-game home series to Mercer over the weekend. The Keydets defeated Richmond, 11-10 in 11 frames in their last midweek game (April 16).
- This will be the 181st meeting between the two programs in a series that began in 1897. Only the Virginia series is longer, in terms of games played, at 187.
- In the all-time series, Tech holds a 130-49-1 overall mark against the Keydets, the most wins against any single opponent for the Hokies.
- The Hokies are 72-17-1 against VMI at home, including a 16-2 mark at English Field at Union Park.

Quick notes on the Radford contest
- This will also be the second meeting of the season between the two programs, as the squads met up earlier this season (February 26) in Blacksburg.
- Trailing by a run entering the bottom of the ninth, Luke Horanski hit a two-run walk-off home run and mark the second straight walk-off win over Radford in Blacksburg. For Horanski, it was his second walk-off hit as a Hokie, as he also had a bases-loaded RBI single in the 10th frame against Old Dominion on April 18, 2018 as Tech beat the Monarchs 6-5.
- For Tech, the win kept the team perfect to start the season at 7-0 - only the fourth time in program history the team started a season with seven straight wins and it's the longest win streak at any point since the 2015 season when the Hokies won seven straight games from April 26 to May 5
- Radford, who also plays a Tuesday game at Appalachian State, enters the midweek with a 20-19 overall mark and is 12-6 in the Big South Conference. The Highlanders had lost three in a row before sweeping conference foe Longwood over the weekend, scoring in double figures twice and winning a one-run contest in Game 3.
- All-time against the Highlanders, Tech owns a 46-15 mark in 61 overall games. Tech owns the series at home, but is 18-9 on the road, losing last year's game (April 17) by a 12-11 count. Since 2014, Radford is 4-1 in games not played in Blacksburg (includes a game in Pulaski) and is 3-1 at home. Tech's lone win was a 17-6 decision on April 11, 2017.
