Hokies host Miami on Senior Night

BLACKSBURG - The Virginia Tech men's basketball team completes the 2018-19 regular season on Friday night, as they host Miami at Carilion Clinic Court at Cassell Coliseum. Tip is at 7 p.m. and the game will be shown live on ESPN2. This will be the Hokies' "Senior Night", as we will honor Ahmed Hill, Ty Outlaw and Justin Robinson in a pregame ceremony.

     The Hokies dropped a heartbreaker at Florida State on Tuesday, 73-64, in overtime … Tech took a 14-point lead into the intermission, but could not hold off the Seminoles on their Senior Night … Tech trailed 61-58 in the waning seconds, but Ahmed Hill hit a big three-pointer with 14 seconds remaining to force overtime … Nickeil Alexander-Walker led all scorers with 19 points, while Hill added 18 points and Ty Outlaw had 10 points.
 
Vs. Miami
The Hokies are 15-22 all-time against Miami … Tech won the last meeting, 82-70, in Coral Gables on Jan. 30, 2019 … Tech lost, 84-75, to Miami in the last game the two schools played in Cassell Coliseum, on Feb. 3, 2018 … Tech is 8-7 at home against the Hurricanes, all games being played in Cassell Coliseum … Tech is 3-8 against Miami under Buzz Williams.

Tonight is Senior Night for the Hokies … Ahmed Hill, Ty Outlaw and Justin Robinson will be honored in a pregame ceremony … Senior student manager Francis Duggan will also be recognized … The Hokies are 85-45 over the last four seasons, the second-most number of wins over a four-year span in school history … The Virginia Tech Athletics Department and the Hokie Men's Basketball team would like to thank and congratulate the seniors for their outstanding careers and wish them all the best in their future endeavors.

The Hokies are 11-6 in ACC action this season … That marks the most ACC wins in a season for the Hokies since joining the league in the 2004-05 season … Tech had won 10 games in an ACC season five times previously, including each of the last three years.
 
Being Ranked
The Hokies are currently ranked 15th in the AP poll … Tech is ranked for the 18th consecutive week (including the preseason poll), the longest streak in preseason and the regular season in school history … Tech was ranked for 17 consecutive weeks in the 1995-96 season, plus the Final AP Poll of that season.
