BLACKSBURG – The Virginia Tech men's tennis team knocked off No. 16 Notre Dame, 5-2 on Sunday afternoon during Senior Day for the Hokies.
Tech (15-5, 5-3 ACC) got out to the lead with the doubles point. Jason Kros and Brandon Perez paired up to win the match on court two. The point was clinched on court three with the win from Carlo Donato and Alex Ribeiro.
The Hokies took the 2-0 lead behind Henrik Korsgaard's straight set wins on two, defeating Matt Gamble 6-1, 6-4. Notre Dame got on the board with the win on court one and then tied it up at 2-2 as the Irish took the match at four.
Freshman Evan Fragistas gave the advantage back to the Hokies, taking care of Paul Gota on court six with a score of 6-3, 7-6(2).

Fellow freshman Perez had the clinching point with a win on court five. After giving up the first set 6-2 to Nathan Griffin, Perez rallied to come back and win the next two 6-4, 6-4.
Ribeiro pushed the Hokies to the 5-2 margin with the win at three. The Tech junior won the first set in a tiebreaker 7-6(1) over Guillermo Cabrera. In the second set, Ribeiro faltered, falling 6-1 before rallying for the third 6-3.

The Hokies close out the season with a four-match road swing beginning with Miami on Friday, April 5 at 2 p.m.
