BLACKSBURG, VA. – The Virginia Tech women's tennis team fell to No. 19 Miami 6-1 on Sunday afternoon at the Burrows-Burleson Tennis Center.
Tech (5-7, 1-3 ACC) fell behind after Miami (8-3, 2-2 ACC) secured the doubles point with tiebreaker wins on courts one and two. Sarah Baron and Samantha Gillas were able to pick up the tiebreaker win on court three, 7-6(5).
Nika Kozar picked up Tech's lone singles victory of the day, defeating Miami's Daniella Roldan 6-4, 6-3 on court two.
On court five, Samantha Gillas battled back to win the second set 7-5 after losing the first set 6-3 but fell short in the third 6-3.
Elizabet Danailova battled on court three sending both sets to tiebreakers but came up short to fall 7-6(3), 7-6(3).
The Hokies will be back on the court Wednesday, March 6 for an 11 a.m. match at William and Mary.
