Stone sets Tech record to open NCAAs

AUSTIN, Texas – The Virginia Tech men's swimming and diving team got off to a strong start at the 2019 NCAA Men's Swimming & Diving Championships as the Hokies finished 17th in the 800 free relay on the opening day.
 
Sophomore Lane Stone swam the leadoff of the 800 free relay, setting a new Tech record in the 200 free with a time of 1:33.65. He broke his own mark (1:33.82) in the 200 free which was set during ACCs.
 
Stone was joined in the relay by Blake Manoff, Norbert Szabo and Antani Ivanov. The quartet finished 17th overall with a time of 6:18.18.
 
The Hokies will be back in action tomorrow with the 200 free relay, 500 free, 200 IM and 1-meter diving. Prelims will begin at 11 a.m. with finals at 7 p.m. ET.
