RICHMOND – The Virginia Tech men's tennis team picked up its fifth consecutive win as the Hokies defeated VCU 4-2 on Wednesday afternoon in a midweek non-conference match in Richmond, Virginia.
Tech (13-5) got out to the lead after winning the doubles point. Carlo Donato and Alex Ribeiro paired up for the 6-1 win on court three while Jason Kros and Brandon Perez clinched the point on two with a 6-3 decision.
VCU evened the match with a win on six, but the Hokies regained the lead with Ribeiro's 6-2, 6-3 win over Inigo Torre Martin on court three. The Rams again tied it up as they took the match on court four.
The Hokies answered off a win from freshman Perez as he downed Inaki Rivero Crespo 6-4, 6-4 on court five. Henrik Korsgaard clinched the win for the Hokies with a 7-5, 6-3 decision over Arvid Noren at the two.
Virginia Tech will return to Blacksburg for the Hokies final home weekend of the season. The Hokies will host Boston College on Friday before taking on No. 16 Notre Dame on Sunday.
