Tech continues to receive votes in the Inside Lacrosse media poll and is 21 in the IWLCA Coaches Poll this week.
The Tar Heels
North Carolina enters the contest with an 8-2 overall record and 1-1 mark in ACC play. However, they fell in their most recent outing to No. 1 Boston College on March 23 by an 14-8 margin. The loss snapped a five-game winning streak for the Tar Heels.
UNC is paced in scoring by attacker Jamie Ortega, who has netted 36 goals on the season, more than double anyone else on the team. Ortega netted a season-high seven goals in a victory against Northwestern on March 2.
In goal, Taylor Moreno has stopped 75 shots this year and has compiled a 7-2 record.
The Series
Tech is looking to win their first ever game against the Tar Heels, as UNC has won all of the previous 27 matchups. Last season, the Heels beat the Hokies three times, including in the ACC and NCAA tournaments.
Virginia Tech is 0-10 against North Carolina in Blacksburg.
Looking Ahead
The Hokies will have a week off from competition before traveling to Syracuse for another ACC clash on Wednesday, April 3. A season ago, Tech recorded their first ever win over the Orange in a thrilling 15-14 victory in double-overtime.
Game time is set for 4 p.m., and the contest will be broadcasted on ACC Network Extra.
