AUSTIN, Texas – Virginia Tech sophomore Joelle Vereb recorded a personal best and the second fastest time in program history on Thursday during the second day of competition at the 2019 NCAA Women's Swimming and Diving Championships.
Vereb turned in a time of 1:57.30 in the prelims of the 200 IM to finish in 30th overall. With the time, she moves into second on the Tech top-five record list. She moves past Fiona Donnelly who had a 1:58.06 in 2015.
Reka Gyorgy placed 38th in the 500 free with a time of 4:43.11, recording her second fastest time ever in the event.
On the boards, Ashlynn Peters finished 32nd with a score of 258.25 on the 1-meter.
The Hokies will be back in the pool on Friday with Gyorgy in the 400 IM, Vereb will compete in the 100 fly while Peters is set for 3-meter.
