No. 18 Hokies split up begin outdoor season

BLACKSBURG- The Virginia Tech track and field teams start the outdoor season this weekend and will split up and head to three meets – Florida State Relays, Vanderbilt Black & Gold Invitational and the Winthrop Invitational.
 
The Winthrop invitational and Vanderbilt Black & Gold Invitationals will begin on Friday and go through Saturday, while the Hokies will only compete on Friday at the Florida State relays.
 
The sprints group will head down to the sunshine state on Florida States' campus, the throw group will head to Vanderbilt's campus in the Volunteer State and the jumps/ multi-events group will head to the Palmetto State on Winthrop's campus.
 
In the latest the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Indoor National Rating Index released on Monday, Tech's women were ranked No. 18 in the country.

The last time out, the women's DMR placed 10th, Sarah Edwards (mile) placed sixth, Rachel Baxter (pole vault) placed sixth and Rachel Pocratsky (800 meters) placed third as the women tallied a Top-15 finish at the NCAA Indoor Championships for the second-consecutive indoor season.
