Tech set to host Duke in midweek match

BLACKSBURG – The Virginia Tech men's tennis team is set for a midweek ACC match, hosting Duke at the Burrows-Burleson Tennis Center on Wednesday, March 13 at 1:30 p.m.

THE HOKIES
Virginia Tech is coming off a 5-2 win over William & Mary the last time out. The Tribe took a 2-0 lead early in the match, but the Hokies answered as Henrik Korsgaard won on court three in straight sets. Tech continued to secure wins as Alex Ribeiro, Carlo Donato, Jason Kros and Brandon Perez secured their matches in three.
 
Tech enters the match with Mitch Harper (who has been sidelined by injury) ranked at No. 45 and Kros at No. 66. The Hokies are also ranked in doubles with Korsgaard and Ribeiro at No. 46 while Harper and Donato are No. 58.
 
THE BLUE DEVILS
Duke defeated No. 23 Penn 6-1 the last time out. The Blue Devils won the doubles point and claimed wins in all but one singles as Spencer Furman fell on court three to Dmitry Shatalin.
 
Entering the match, the Blue Devils have two players who are ranked with No. 41 Nick Stachowiak leading the way with a 7-2 tally this spring at the one. Spencer Furman is ranked at No. 114.
 
UP NEXT: Tech has the weekend off, but will remain at home for a March 22 match against Clemson scheduled for 2:30 p.m. The Hokies will also host Georgia Tech on March 24 at noon.
