Hokies garner No. 25 ranking in ESPN.com/USA Softball poll

Top 25 Poll

OKLAHOMA CITY – It didn't take too long in the Pete D'Amour era to garner a national ranking, 28 days to be exact – following Week 1's poll on Feb. 12.

The No. 25 Virginia Tech softball team finds itself in the ESPN.com/USA Softball Top 25 Poll for the first time this season, as announced on Tuesday. The last time the Hokies (18-4, 2-1 ACC) were ranked in the poll was on March 24, 2015, when they were tied for 24th.

Tech was receiving votes in the poll the first five weeks of the season and finally got over the edge after winning its opening ACC series against Georgia Tech (15-10, 1-2).

Pitcher Carrie Eberle (10-1) picked up two wins in the circle, while first baseman Jayme Bailey led all hitters with a .429 batting average and two home runs.

Eberle, Bailey and the rest of the Hokies will be back on the diamond this weekend, starting on Friday at NC State (15-8) in a three-game series at Dail Softball Stadium.
