Hokies host two ACC foes this weekend

BLACKSBURG – The Virginia Tech women's tennis team will return home this weekend and continue ACC play, following two road matches last week. On Friday, the Hokies' will host Florida State (No. 15) for a 3 p.m. contest and on Sunday, Miami (No. 19) in a noon match.

THE HOKIES
In their two matches last weekend, Tech split the results. Against Pittsburgh, the Hokies cruised to a 5-2 victory, with the help of sophomores Nika Kozar and Elizabet Danailova. Freshmen Sammi Gillas and Rita Pinto also earned points for Tech in their matches. In a 1-6 defeat to Virginia (No. 14), Gillas captured her second win of the weekend.
 
THE SEMINOLES
Florida State are currently ranked 15th by the ITA Top 125 and have one ranked player on their roster, Carla Touly (No. 32). In their last outing, the Seminoles fell 2-5 to Duke (No. 3). They hold a 17-3 advantage over the Hokies all-time.
 
THE HURRICANES
Miami are ranked 18th in the ITA Top 125 and have a single ranked player, Estela Perez-Somarriba (No. 7). Last weekend, they fell to Duke (No. 3) 3-4 in an ACC match-up. The Hokies have a single win all-time against the Hurricanes, a victory in Blacksburg in 2015.
