BLACKSBURG – Following two road wins and a sweep of the ACC's weekly awards the Virginia Tech women's basketball team is back home on Carilion Clinic Court on Sunday, Feb. 10 for a noon tip against No. 2 Louisville on Regional Sports Networks.
The Hokies boast both the reigning Player of the Week (Regan Magarity) and Rookie of the Week (Dara Mabrey) for the first time in program history. Magarity scored 14 points and pulled down 17 rebounds, while also dishing out 7 assists in the Hokies' win at Pitt. The redshirt senior then set a new career high at Boston College, scoring 30 points as Tech erased a 16-point deficit in the second half to earn ACC win number two.
Mabrey, the nation's leader in 3-point percentage (.487), got the Hokies off to a hot start scoring 16 points in the first quarter of their victory against the Panthers. She finished that game with 22 points on 7 of 9 shooting. In the second game of the road swing, Mabrey equaled her career best, recording 26 points, knocking down four treys and handing out 6 assists. The freshman was also clutch from the free throw line, making all 8 of her attempts.
