Hokies on the road for a pair of ACC matches

BLACKSBURG  – The Virginia Tech women's tennis team has two upcoming ACC road matches this weekend. On Friday, they Hokies will travel take on Pitt, before going to Charlottesville to face off against No. 14 Virginia in a Commonwealth Clash match-up.

THE HOKIES
After a weekend off, the Tech will look to pick up right where they left off before the break. The Hokies are riding a three match win streak, with all of those defeats being by a score of 7-0. Sophomore Nina Sorkin is currently on a four match win streak, while Natalie Novotna, Nika Kozar, and Samantha Gillas have won their last three outings. Freshman Annie Clark and Rita Pinto have been victorious in their last two, while junior Shene Disbergen and sophomore Elizabet Danailova captured wins last week, as well.
 
THE PANTHERS
Pitt currently stand 0-2 in conference play, but are coming off a 5-2 victory against Bowling Green. They have one player recognized by the ITA Top 125, Claudia Bortolome (No. 99). The Hokies are 7-0 all-time against the Panthers, most recently defeating them 6-1 in Blacksburg last year.
 
THE CAVALIERS
Virginia enters the match ranked No. 14 in the country. In their last outing, the Cavaliers defeated George Mason by a line of 4-0. They have one player ranked, senior Meghan Kelley (No. 43). Overall, Virginia has controlled the series with a 39-5 record, including a win last season in Blacksburg.
 
A Virginia529 Commonwealth Clash point is on the line in Sunday's match. Virginia Tech currently leads the series 5-3.5 after the Hokies took the point in wrestling last week.
