BLACKSBURG - The Virginia Tech baseball program opened its 126th season, and second under head coach John Szefc, with a three-victory weekend at the RyCass Classic in DeLand, Florida and now the Hokies turn their attention to Tuesday's home opener against ETSU.
Due to the weather that is forecasted for the area late in the day tomorrow, first pitch for the Hokies and Buccaneers game scheduled at English Field at Union Park has been pushed up to 2 p.m. As always, admission to Hokies' nonconference regular season home games is free of charge.

Quick notes about the home opener
- Over the past decade (since 2010), Tech is 7-2 in home openers.
- All-time, Tech is 20-3 in home games played in the month of February, winning its last six dating back to a 7-3 loss to Temple (Feb. 24) in the team's 2013 home opener.
- Under Szefc, Tech is 1-0 in home openers, victorious in last year's (Feb. 27) versus Radford, a 3-2 walk-off win when Jack Owens drove in the game winner in the 12th frame.
- Tech has won three straight home openers, which includes a 7-0 decision over Marshall (Feb. 21, 2017) and an 11-0 decision over ETSU (Feb. 23, 2016).
