BLACKSBURG - The 12th ranked Virginia Tech lacrosse team is set for another matchup with a to-20 team this weekend when they play host to No. 20 Colorado on Saturday, Feb. 16 at the Beamer-Lawson Indoor Practice Facility. First draw is set for 1 p.m. with coverage available on ACC Network Extra.
The matchup comes on the heels of Wednesday's contest against No. 9 James Madison which the Dukes took 14-8. Tech was led by sophomore All-American Paige Petty, who scored three goals and added an assist. It was Petty's 11th hat trick of her career. Taylor Caskey and Julia Bolte each recorded their first goals of the season Wednesday. The pair ended the game with a goal and an assist each. Freshman Lizzie Lohrer also made her first career start, winning two draws for the Hokies.
The Buffaloes
No. 20 Colorado comes to Blacksburg off a 16-9 loss in their season opener to No. 6 Florida in Boulder, Colorado. Charlie Rudy, Sadie Grozier and Miranda Stinson each tallied two goals for the Buffaloes. Colorado scored all nine of their goals unassisted.
Goalie Julia Lisella made 12 saves in the loss to the Gators. Sophie Castillo led Colorado in ground balls, securing six.
The series
Virginia Tech and Colorado met for the first time ever last season in Boulder, with the Buffaloes coming away with the convincing 18-3 victory. The 15-goal margin is the largest defeat for the Hokies under head coach John Sung. Paige Petty and Taylor Caskey each had a point in the loss.

The Hokies will travel to Duke on Feb. 23 and Old Dominion Feb. 27, before returning home on March 3rd for the Breast Cancer Awareness Match against Radford in the Beamer-Lawson Indoor Facility.
