BLACKSBURG – The Virginia Tech men's tennis team kept the weekend wins going as the Hokies claimed two 4-0 wins on Saturday, defeating St. Bonaventure in the afternoon and following up with the evening win over Davidson.
Tech (6-2) got out to the early lead versus the Bonnies (2-5), winning the doubles point on courts one and two. Jason Kros and Carlo Donato paired up at the one to win 6-2 while Alex Ribeiro and Ryan Kros had the 6-2 win on court two.
Chase Bernstine put the Hokies up 2-0 on St. Bonaventure, defeating Logan D'Angelo 6-3, 6-1 on court six. The Hokies took the 3-0 lead with Brandon Perez's 6-4, 6-1 decision over Lukas Malmberg at three.
The Hokies clinched the win with 55th-ranked Jason Kros securing a 6-0, 6-4 decision on court one against Indra Patwardhan.
In the second match of the day, the Hokies again took the lead off the doubles point. Tech's 19th-ranked pair of Henrik Korsgaard and Ribeiro had the 6-2 win on court one. Jason Kros and Perez paired up to win it 6-1 on court two.
Jason Kros put the Hokies up 2-0 with his 6-1, 6-0 victory over Axel Fries at the one. Perez again pushed the Tech lead to 3-0, this time on court five as he knocked off Brooks Green 6-0, 6-4.
The match was clinched for the Hokies by Evan Fragistas on court six where he had the 6-3, 6-3 decision over Doug Macintosh.
Virginia Tech will return to the court Feb. 22 when the Hokies host a doubleheader against Duquesne and Liberty at the Burrows-Burleson Tennis Center.
