Ingason, Mejia named to All-ACC Academic team Thursday

BLACKSBURG – Two Hokies, Will Mejia and Jon Ingason were recognized by the ACC as All-Academic Team members the conference announced Thursday morning. For both student-athletes, it is their first inclusion on the team. 
 
Mejia started all 21 Tech games in 2018, helping the Hokies hold five shut outs. The defender contributed to Tech's postseason run after earning a national seed, the Hokies made an appearance in the Sweet Sixteen of the NCAA Tournament. The junior is majoring in Human Development. 
 
Ingason, alongside Mejia held the Hokies back line together. The defender also put away four goals, all from set pieces. Three of those goals were game winners against UNCG, Longwood, and Pitt. The sophomore is majoring in psychology. 
 
Minimum academic requirements for selection to the All-ACC Academic Team are a 3.0 grade point average for the previous semester and a 3.0 cumulative average during one's academic career. Athletic achievements during the most recent season are also considered in selecting the All-ACC Academic Team.
 
The ACC Honor Roll, which recognizes all conference student-athletes with a grade point average of 3.0 for the current academic year, will be released in July.
