GREENSBORO, N.C. – Two Virginia Tech football student-athletes were named to the 2018 All-ACC Academic Football Team, the conference office announced Wednesday.

LB Dax Hollifield and OL Zachariah Hoyt represent the Hokies on this year's team. It marked the first All-ACC Academic Team honors for the duo.

Hollifield played in all 13 games and registered six starts at linebacker for the Hokies as a freshman in 2018. He finished fourth on the team with 62 tackles and 8.0 tackles for loss. The Shelby, N.C., product racked up a career-high 10 tackles vs. Boston College and also added a forced fumble and a fumble recovery on the season.

Hoyt started nine games for Tech as a sophomore, primarily at center and left guard. The Salem, Va., native helped the Hokies rank first in the ACC in Red Zone offense, converting on 90.5 percent of their opportunities.

Minimum academic requirements for selection to the All-ACC Academic Team are a 3.0 grade point average for the previous semester and a 3.0 cumulative average during one's academic career.
