THE HOKIES
Virginia Tech started its 2019 spring schedule with three players ranked in the ITA Top-125, Mitch Harper at #26, Jason Kros at #30, and Henrik Korsgaard at #118. All three of those guys, along with freshman Evan Fragitas and sophomore Carlos Donato were victorious in a 6-1 defeat of College of Charleston last week.
The success continued for the Hokies as Kros claimed the singles title and the tandem of Korsgaard and Alex Ribeiro grabbed the doubles title at the Virginia Tech Invitational. That doubles victory also led to Korsgaard and Ribeiro earning ACC Doubles Team of the Week honors.
THE FIELD
Columbia, ranked 14th in the latest top-25, comes into the weekend with three players ranked in the ITA Top-125, #28 Jackie Tang, #40 Jack Lin, and #108 Adam Ambrozy. Lin, along with teammate William Matheson, is ranked in doubles at No. 4. Tang and Ambrozy are 20th.
Dartmouth has a single player ranked, #27 Charlie Broom. They also have a doubles team, Dan Martin and John Speicher, ranked at No. 52. Kentucky, received votes in the most recent top-25 and arrives to the weekend with a 3-1 record on the year.
The winner of Virginia Tech/Columbia and Kentucky/Dartmouth will meet on Sunday while the other two teams will play a consolation match.
