SERIES HISTORY
The Hokies trail the series with Miami 6-20 dating back to 2000. All but one of the clubs' meetings have been in conference play as members of the ACC or Big East conferences.
Miami has won each of the last 14 meetings.
Tech remains one of just seven D1 teams that are unbeaten on the season, and have made their first appearance in the USA Today Coaches Poll, occupying the 25th spot.
The Hokies have grown accustomed to great starts to the season, heading into the new year unbeaten in two of the past three seasons under head coach Kenny Brooks. Over the past three seasons under head coach Kenny Brooks, the Hokies have amassed an impressive 38-3 record in the months of November and December. Included in that mark are two undefeated starts to the season (2016-17's 13-0 and this season's 13-0 starts).
Those 38 wins in that span mark tied for third in the ACC, behind only Louisville's 41 and Notre Dame's 39. In fact, the Hokies' .926 win percentage in the first two months of the season is tied for second with FSU, trailing only the Cardinals.
Below is a look at some other impressive milestones and statistics that the Hokies have hit during the 2018-19 season.
Milestones that have been reached
• Forward Regan Magarity became the first player in school history to record 1,000 rebounds when she reached that mark in the win over Mount St. Mary's.
• She currently leads the nation in total rebounds (183) and rebounds per game (14.1)
• Her 10 double-doubles are good for third nationally. Magarity is one of seven active players with 1,000 points and 1,000 career rebounds.
Coach Brooks' 50th
• Kenny Brooks recorded his 50th victory at Virginia Tech early in the season with an 85-57 victory over Richmond at UCF's Thanksgiving Tournament.
Hokies vs the ACC
• Tech is in among the conference leaders in several statistical categories:
First in scoring defense (53.4) 3-point field goal defense (.251) and free throw percentage (.804)
Second in scoring margin (+23.2), field goal defense (.336) and 3-pointers made (121 and 9.3 per game)
• Taylor Emery's 17.7 points per game are 4th in the league and her six games of 20+ points in the third most.
• Magarity ranks 3rd in blocks and her 13 10-rebound games are the most in the conference.
• Freshman Dara Mabrey's .492 3-point field goal percentage is second in the ACC.
