BLACKSBURG – On Friday night, the Virginia Tech softball team put on its third annual Leadoff Banquet at the German Club, as fans got to meet new faces and connect with familiar ones.
Fans were welcomed to a new era of softball in Blacksburg, as first-year coach Pete D'Amour and his staff were in attendance. D'Amour and his fellow seniors, made up of Lauren Duff, Olivia Lattin, Caitlyn Nolan, Emma Strouth, Kinsey Johnson and Sierra Walton, took the stage and were asked questions by MCs Mike Burnop and Jon Laaser.
Many laughs were shared on the stage, including questions that were 'Who was the most likely to drop their phone in the toilet?', 'Who is the most gullible?' and more.

A silent auction took place and once again was successful, as there were many bids on the items, including a signed softball helmet by the Edmunds brothers, a baseball signed by Greg Maddux and more.
A photo booth with a Virginia Tech Athletics backdrop was on display, giving fans the opportunity to get their pictures taken with some of the team's equipment made up of jerseys, bats and gloves.
With the banquet officially kicking off the season, the team will practice two more weeks until it heads south to Charleston, South Carolina, competing in its season opener at the Cougar Classic from Feb. 8-10.
