The Hokies kicked off their season with a commanding 24-3 victory over No. 19 Florida State on Monday, a game that had 5.6 million live television viewers tying cable's highest rated regular season game since 2016. Redshirt freshman Caleb Farley recorded two interceptions and led the defense in recovering five FSU turnovers, earning himself ACC Defensive Back Player of the Week. Bud Foster's defense held the Seminoles to only three points, and the offense sealed the deal late in the fourth quarter with Josh Jackson's 49-yard touchdown strike to Eric Kumah, his second touchdown of the night. The Hokies rose to No. 12 in the AP Polls on Tuesday and set their sights on the Tribe of William & Mary (1-0) this weekend in the 2018 home opener at Lane Stadium. [Full Preview]

The undefeated Virginia Tech volleyball team heads to Athens, Ohio this weekend to compete at the Bobcat Invitational after another successful weekend, winning the Hokie Invitational and improving to 6-0. Tech is lead by sophomores Kaity Smith who has racked up 76 kills on the young season and Ester Talazmazzi whose 15 service aces have helped the Hokies check in at second nationally in aces per set with 2.53. In their final road game of non-conference play, the Hokies will travel to Chester, Pennsylvania to take on Villanova at Talen Energy Stadium, the home of the Philadelphia Union an MLS franchise. Last weekend the Hokies faced two tough SEC matches falling 1-0 to Alabama and securing a scoreless draw at Georgia. [Full Preview]

The No. 21 Virginia Tech men's soccer team will travel to conference and in state rival, tenth ranked Virginia Friday night for a 7 p.m. kickoff that can be seen on ACC Network Extra. It is the first contest of the 2018-19 Commonwealth Cup an annual competition between the athletic departments of the University of Virginia and Virginia Tech.
