Brooks named director of equipment services for Tech Football

BLACKSBURG – Virginia Tech Athletics announced the addition of Adam Brooks to the staff as director of equipment services for football on Tuesday, joining the staff of Erik Lewis who serves as Tech's director of equipment services.

Brooks comes to Virginia Tech after spending the last three years at Georgia Southern, working as the head equipment manager for two years before being promoted to director of equipment services his last year in Statesboro. He was responsible for all aspects of operating an NCAA equipment facility, including budgeting, purchasing, ordering and keeping inventory.

Prior to his assignment with Georgia Southern, Brooks served five years at the United States Military Academy beginning his tenure as an assistant equipment manager in 2010. He later served as the head equipment manager for Army men's and women's basketball, while assisting with football at West Point.

During his tenure at Army, he volunteered for three East-West Shrine All-Star games, as well as assisting this past year with the game. The game is a college football all-star matchup held annually in St. Petersburg, Florida, allowing recently graduated players and early entries to showcase their skills to scouts in preparation for the NFL Draft.

Brooks graduated from Marshall University with a business administration degree and served as a student equipment manager for four years before beginning work on a master's degree in sports administration while working as a graduate student equipment manager in Huntington.

Brooks is a certified member of the Athletic Equipment Manager Association (AEMA). He and his wife, Jade, are parents of Hudson and Elin.
