GREENSBORO, N.C. – Following a breakout season in 2017, Virginia Tech volleyball's Jaila Tolbert was named to the Preseason All-ACC Volleyball Team, as announced by the league office on Friday afternoon.
Tolbert was one of 18 student-athletes to make the prestigious team, which was voted on by the conference's coaches.
The senior tallied 318 kills on a .331 hitting percentage last season and earned second-team All-ACC honors. Her hitting clip ranked seventh in the conference, but first among non-middle blockers. Tolbert, a right-side hitter, hit over .300 in 20 matches last fall.
Tolbert is coming off a fun offseason, including some trips for Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) to Indianapolis and Greensboro, as well as a trek to Detroit when she competed on the U.S. Collegiate National Team.
The Hokies are looking to take a step forward in Year 2 of the Jill Wilson era, starting on Aug. 16 when they take on Radford in an exhibition match inside Cassell Coliseum at 6 p.m. ET. On Aug. 24-25, Tech heads down south to Charlotte for a three-match tournament to kick off the regular season.
