In this June issue of Inside Hokie Sports, the magazine staff named Virginia Tech wrestler Jared Haught as its Athlete of the Year. Haught, a redshirt senior from Parkersburg, West Virginia, was the runner-up in his weight class at the NCAA Wrestling Championships and won the ACC title in his class at the ACC Wrestling Championship.
This issue also includes Athletes of the Year in each respective sport, along with a feature on men's track and field All-American Vincent Ciattei, who won the silver medal in the 1,500-meter run at the NCAA Division I Outdoor Track and Field Championships held earlier this month in Eugene, Oregon.
In addition, there are stories on a group of Tech student-athletes who went to Rwanda as part of a study abroad course and on two new head coaches taking over the swimming and diving and softball programs. Plus, there are columns from Jimmy Robertson and Jon Laaser and more.
This issue was the final one for the 2017-18 academic year. The next issue, which starts the 2018-19 academic year, will come out in early August.
