Editor's note: Every Wednesday throughout the offseason, we'll catch up with volleyball support staff for five questions.
Kayla Resco | Head Manager
Q: What is your excitement level right now with becoming the head manager?
RESCO: "I am so excited to be the head manager! I loved having Lauren around last season to teach me everything I needed to know, but I know she has prepared me for this. The team is going to accomplish great things this year and I am ready to be back in Blacksburg for this upcoming season."
Q: As they say, 'With great power, comes great responsibility.' With Lauren Ritt moving on after graduation, do you feel ready to make the jump in additional responsibilities?
RESCO: "Like I said before, I am sad to see her go, but after working with her for a season I feel ready for these additional responsibilities. I have learned so much from her and I know that if I ever need anything in the future, she is a phone call away. Also, I have such great support from the volleyball staff who I know are always willing to help."
Q: What are some of your main responsibilities, either on a match day or during the week with practice?
RESCO: "Some of my main responsibilities during the week with practice are setting up the nets, making sure all equipment needed for practice is ready, taking statistics and maintaining the camera to record practice. On a match day, my main responsibilities include Data Volley (which takes statistics and analyzes them), helping during warmups, and assisting with the pregame meal."
Q: Going into your sophomore year, what class are you looking forward to the most?
RESCO: "Going into sophomore year, the class I am looking forward to most is my accounting class. I took one last semester and loved it. I am a business undecided major, so I am still trying to figure out what major in business I want to study. After going through this course, I will see if accounting is the path I want to take.
Q: With the summer winding down, do you have one more vacation before you are back to work in Blacksburg? If not, what did you do for fun this summer?
RESCO: "For my last week before coming back to work in Blacksburg, I am going to Boston and Cape Cod with my freshman roommate to visit a friend we met this past year. I have never been to either place so I am super excited for this trip!"
