BLACKSBURG – The Virginia Tech women's soccer program is unveiling its 2019 signing class in a different way. Rather than announcing all of them and their accomplishments in one release, the Hokies will highlight each new signee individually, which will include a brief "Get to Know" Q&A, until all of the incoming freshmen have been announced.
Our next 2019 addition to the program is Cassidy Brown, a 5-foot-6 midfielder from Clifton, Virginia. She currently attends Centreville High School and is contemplating majoring in business when she arrives at Tech. For the Wildcats, Brown only played soccer for two seasons due to club obligations, but did earn a pair of varsity letters for coach Jimmy Toms as a freshman and sophomore. She was also a Scholar-Athlete Award recipient for the school and was named a second team all-conference performer as a sophomore.
For the past nine years, Brown has been a member of FC Virginia DA, playing for Christian Cziommer and Bobby Puppioneas as a midfielder/defender. Highlighting her time with the club, was the team winning the Virginia State Cup championship twice (2013 and 2014) and in 2016, the team qualified for the ECNL National Playoffs in Oceanside, California.
"Cassidy is like a jack-of-all trades out there, she can play almost any position," Tech head women's soccer coach Chugger Adair said. "We've seen her play almost everywhere but goalkeeper in the recruiting process. She's solid all around and very well balanced in her game. She could play in the midfield for us or outside back. She's just very solid with a good technical base and has a good ability to read the game. We're really excited about her joining our group."
