BLACKSBURG – Head coach Justin Fuente announced Thursday that DB Divine Deablo will wear Frank Beamer's No. 25 jersey on Saturday in Virginia Tech's game at Pitt. It will mark the second time that he has earned the honor of wearing Beamer's No. 25 jersey.
The first time Deablo wore the No. 25 jersey was as a true freshman in Tech's 39-36 win against Pitt in 2016. He forced a fumble on kickoff coverage that was recovered by the Hokies in that contest.
Deablo (6-3, 220) has tallied 37 tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss, two passes defended and one fumble recovery on the season. The redshirt sophomore had a career-high 14 tackles and one pass defended last week against Boston College
At the beginning of the 2016 season, head coach Justin Fuente announced that a special teams' player of the week would be selected to wear the No. 25 as a tribute to Coach Beamer and his legacy of special teams' excellence he established for the Hokies.
