Tech ready for ITA Fall National Championships

BLACKSBURG – Four members of the Virginia Tech Men's Tennis team will travel to Surprise, Arizona to compete in the ITA National Fall Championships on Wednesday, Nov, 7. Mitch Harper and Jason Kros will be competing in the singles tournament while Henrik Korsgaard and Alex Ribeiro are set to compete in the doubles field.

THE HOKIES
Kros kicks off his singles tournament against Emil Reinberg (Georgia). Reinberg enters the event ranked 38th in the ITA preseason standings. Kros enters the field earning an at-large bid after advancing to the semifinals at the Atlantic Regional.
 
Harper is ranked 12th for the Hokies and his opponent is currently unranked, but the freshman is tabbed as the eighth-ranked newcomer in the NCAA this year.
 
The doubles duo of Korsgaard and Ribeiro will open the tournament against Tim Handel and Ruben Montano (Northern Arizona). The Tech pair are ranked 12th in the ITA standings and earned the at-large bid. Handel and Ruben got the automatic bid into the field after winning the ITA Mountain Regional.
  
THE FIELD
The tournament includes a 64 player singles draw and a 32 team doubles draw. The players qualified through placings at earlier ITA Championships or earning at-large bids.
