Hokies welcome Rutgers to Carilion Clinic Court Wednesday

BLACKSBURG – The Virginia Tech women's basketball team returns to Carilion Court at Cassell Coliseum on Wednesday, November 28 to take on Rutgers in the annual ACC/Big Ten Challenge. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. and can be seen on ACC Network Extra.

THE MATCHUP
The Scarlet Knights are 5-2 coming off of a victory against ETSU in the Vancouver Showcase. Charise Wilson led the team with 17 points and five rebounds, along with Victoria Harris who captured 10 rebounds and put away six points. Rutgers had 10 different players record points in that contest.
 
The Hokies trail 2-4 in the series matchup against the Scarlet Knights. The last time the two matched up was in 2004 as members of the Big East conference, with Rutgers winning 56-43.
 
 
NOTABLE 
The game is a part of the annual ACC/Big Ten Challenge where the Hokies have had three consecutive wins in the past three challenges against Illinois, Nebraska, and Penn State. 
 
On November 28, the women's basketball program is 10-4 overall, including a 9-2 mark at home.
 
The Hokies remain undefeated with a record of 7-0 following the UFC Thanksgiving Tournament. In Orlando, the Hokies defeated Villanova with an and-one put back from Tampa native with 2.8 seconds on the clock, completing a 13-point second half comeback. In their matchup against the Spiders, Regan Magarity picked up her sixth double-double with 15 rebounds and 18 points. Trinity Baptiste also had a double-double with 11 rebounds and 24 points. Tech made 25 out of 29 free throws including 10 from Taylor Emery, the second time in her career that she has accomplished the feat.
