Tolbert earns second-team All-ACC selection

Opens in a new window ACC Release

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Jaila Tolbert of Virginia Tech's volleyball team has been named second-team All-ACC, as announced by the league office on Monday afternoon.

The senior earns the honor for the second year in a row, becoming only the third player in school history to be named to the ACC all-conference team in consecutive years. Tolbert joins Felicia Willoughby (2008, '09, '10) and Cara Baarendse (2011, '11, '12).

This fall, Tolbert posted a career-high 348 kills on a .280 hitting percentage, averaging 3.22 kills per set, and 79 blocks. During league matches, she averaged a team-best 3.71 points per set. Tolbert also eclipsed 1,000 kills on Nov. 16 in the third set versus Boston College, making her the 16th player in school history to accomplish the feat.

The Minnesota native wraps up her career with one of the more storied four years in program history. In October, Tolbert was announced a Senior CLASS Award candidate, becoming the first Tech volleyball player to make the cut. She also played on the U.S. Collegiate National Team - Detroit this summer, being only the second-ever Hokie to do so.
