ORLANDO, FLA. – The Virginia Tech women's basketball team kept chipping away. Down 11 points to begin the fourth quarter, the Hokies looked to All-ACC performer Taylor Emery who scored 22 points to lead Tech to a 61-59 victory against Villanova Saturday afternoon.
Regan Magarity recorded another double-double, her fifth of the season with 18 points and 16 rebounds, helping the Hokies overcome a slow start which was compounded with foul trouble.
Forward Trinity Baptiste collected a pair of fouls in the first quarter and Kendyl Brooks was also limited at times.
Taylor Emery took over the game in the second half, ending the game with 22 points including four 3-pointers to carry the team back. She used her entire arsenal, driving to the rim and capitalizing from the free throw line as well as using her mid-range jumper.
Trinity Baptiste capped off the comeback with a put back and-one bucket with 2.8 seconds on the clock to give the Hokies the lead at 60-59. She would sink the ensuing free throw and the Hokies would see out the remaining few seconds to move to 6-0.

Kelly Jekot who got the Wildcats off to a hot start, ended the contest with 22 points to pace the Wildcats (3-1). Villanova will face UCF tomorrow afternoon at CFE Arena.
Other key notes:
• The Hokies outrebounded the Wildcats 43-23
• The 13-point deficit was the largest the Hokies had faced during the course of this season
• Tech led in the game for 1:17, while the Wildcats held an advantage for over 36 minutes
