Hokies set to host Charlotte in NCAAs

BLACKSBURG – The 12thseeded Virginia Tech Hokies are set to begin their journey in the 2018 NCAA Tournament Sunday afternoon when they match up with Charlotte. Kickoff is set for 3 p.m. at Thompson Field.
Tech finished 10-6-3 in 2018, while boasting a top 10 RPI as well as having the No. 8 hardest schedule in the country. The Hokies played nine different teams who were included in the 48-team field, beating Air Force to begin the season, getting a result on the road at UCF, drawing Virginia and defeating Syracuse twice.
 
It is the first time that the Hokies have earned a national seed since 2007, when Tech made an appearance at the College Cup.

In the last meeting in this series in the 2016 NCAA Tournament, Tech defeated No. 10 Charlotte on their home field in the Second Round 3-2 on Nico Quashie's goal in the 88thminute. Marcelo Acuna scored a brace in that match and Ben Lundgaard made four saves in goal. That squad reached the Elite Eight.
The NCAA Championships are a ticketed event. Tickets can be purchased at the gate to Thompson Field prior to kickoff. Adult tickets are $10 and youth tickets are available for $5.
