Peoples awarded Beamer No. 25 jersey for Miami game

BLACKSBURG – Head coach Justin Fuente announced Thursday that RB Steven Peoples will wear Frank Beamer's No. 25 jersey on Saturday in Virginia Tech's game vs. Miami. It will mark the first time that he has earned the honor of wearing Beamer's No. 25 jersey. Peoples was the first player selected to wear the No. 25, originally wearing it in a 36-13 win vs. Liberty on Sept. 3, 2016.

Peoples (5-9, 222) leads the Hokies in rushing this season and has already registered career highs with 106 rushing attempts for 546 yards with five touchdowns. He also has established personal bests with 17 receptions for 179 yards.  
 
At the beginning of the 2016 season, head coach Justin Fuente announced that a special teams' player of the week would be selected to wear the No. 25 as a tribute to Coach Beamer and his legacy of special teams' excellence he established for the Hokies.
