Hokies head to Lynchburg for Tuesday tip at Liberty

BLACKSBURG – The 2-0 Virginia Tech women's basketball team will travel to Lynchburg, Virginia for a matchup in with in-state foe Liberty University on Tuesday, Nov. 13. Tipoff is set for 6 p.m. in the Vines Center and can be found on ESPN+.

THE MATCHUP
The Hokies head to Lynchburg 2-0 on the young season after defeating USC Upstate and Georgia Southern last week at home. The Flames are 0-1 after an overtime loss to Bethune Cookman on Friday. Redshirt sophomore, Emily Lytle led the flames with 24 points followed by Ashtyn Baker with 12 points and five rebounds. 
 
NOTABLE 
This is the first matchup between Virginia Tech and Liberty since 2008. The last time the two faced each other the Flames outdueled the Hokies 45-43, one of their four wins over an ACC team. Overall the Hokies lead the flames 14-1, in a series that dates back to 1981. 
 
Liberty has a 15-game winning streak at home that has carried over from last season contributing to the Flames appearance in the 2018 NCAA Tournament.  
 
Regan Magarity led the Hokies with 18 points in their victory over Georgia Southern. Magarity, Taylor Emery, and Trinity Baptiste all had double-doubles for the Hokies. It was the first time since 1986 and the fourth time in program history that three different players recorded double-doubles in the same game. 
 
Baptiste not only had a double-double against the Eagles, she recorded one in the season opener against USC Upstate as well. She was the first Hokie to record that stat line in a season opening debut since 1981.
