WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. –Virginia Tech's Joelle Vereb and Ian Ho along with the rest of the ACC wrapped up the inaugural ACC/Big Ten Challenge on Sunday in West Lafayette, Indiana. The league's men were edged by the B1G men 179-74 while the B1G won the women's side 251-102 over the ACC.
On the second day of competition, the Hokies' Vereb teamed up with other members of the ACC to finish fourth in the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:37.17. Individually, Vereb added a sixth place finish for the ACC, swimming an NCAA B cut time of 1:01.31 in the 200 breaststroke.
For the men, Tech's Ho posted an NCAA B cut of 19.86 to place fourth in the 50 freestyle for the league. He also contributed to two relay teams, pairing up with other ACC swimmers to place third in the 400 free relay with a time of 2:53.81. Ho added a fourth place finish in the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:26.04.
The Hokies will wrap up the fall half of their 2018-19 schedule Nov. 15-17 at the Georgia Tech Invitational.

DAY ONE
WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. –The Atlantic Coast Conference trails the Big Ten after the first day of the inaugural ACC/B1G Challenge hosted by Purdue in West Lafayette, Indiana. On the men's side, the ACC is just down 85-82 while the women trail 123-44.
Joelle Vereb was the only Hokie in the pool today, competing in the 400-medley relay and the 100 butterfly.
Vereb was part of the ACC-B relay that finished in fourth with a time of 3:34.07. Later in the meet, Vereb added a fifth-place finish for the ACC in the 100 butterfly with a time of 53.12 to hit the NCAA B standard for 2018-19.
Vereb along with fellow Hokie Ian Ho and the rest of the ACC will be back in the pool on Sunday to wrap up the challenge event.
