BLACKSBURG – The Virginia Tech lacrosse team will take on Liberty, George Mason and Winthrop on Sunday, Oct. 28 at the Moseley Practice Field adjacent to Lane Stadium. It will be the Hokies' final chance to test themselves during the fall semester against outside opposition.
Below is a quick look at the Hokies' opponents.
Liberty
- 13-5 overall record in 2018; 6-1 in Big South play.
- Finished second in the 2018 Big South conference standings; Made semifinal of the conference tournament.
- The Flames had 13 wins last season, the most in program history. Liberty began playing lacrosse in 2010.
George Mason
- 11-7 overall record in 2018; 5-4 in the Atlantic 10.
- Head Coach Jessy Morgan has led Mason to 44 wins in her first four seasons. Forty-four wins is the most in program history in a four-year stretch
- Four straight Atlantic 10 tournaments appearances for the Patriots.
Winthrop
- 14-6 overall record in 2018; 5-2 in Big South play.
- Finished third in the 2018 Big South standings. Appeared in the conference tournament Championship last season.
- Big South conference champions in 2015 and 2016.
- Two NCAA tournament appearances in program history (2015, 2016).
