BLACKSBURG – Virginia Tech wrestling is set to kick off the 2018-19 season on Friday, Oct. 26, with its instrasquad match at 7 p.m. in Cassell Coliseum. All fans are welcome to attend and admission is free.
The Hokies, who have seven wrestlers slotted in the preseason rankings and are ranked 12th in the nation by Intermat entering the season, will be split into two teams, Maroon and Orange. The match will be scored like a conventional dual meet.

Virginia Tech is coming off of winning its second consecutive ACC title and its sixth straight top 10 finish at the NCAA championships in 2017-18. The Hokies return All-Americans David McFadden and Zack Zavatsky to the lineup while bringing in three transfers – Tom Sleigh, Korbin Myers and Billy Miller – that are all multi-time NCAA qualifiers. Redshirt freshman Mekhi Lewis, a junior world champion, also enters the fold in 2018-19.
