Hokie ClubBLACKSBURG – Head coach Justin Fuente announced Tuesday that LB Dax Hollifield will wear Frank Beamer's No. 25 jersey on Saturday in Virginia Tech's game vs. Georgia Tech. It will mark the first time that he has earned the honor of wearing Beamer's No. 25 jersey.
Hollifield (6-1, 243) has seen action in all six games for the Hokies and has tallied 19 tackles and 3.0 tackles for loss on the season. Hollifield will be the fourth freshman to receive the honor. He joins DB Divine Deablo who wore it at Pitt (10/27/16), P Oscar Bradburn who earned the distinction vs. North Carolina (10/21/17) and DB Chamarri Conner who wore it earlier this year at North Carolina (10/13). Hollifield registered a career-high seven tackles in Tech's 22-19 victory at North Carolina in the Hokies' most recent contest.
At the beginning of the 2016 season, Coach Fuente announced that a special teams' player of the week would be selected to wear the No. 25 as a tribute to Coach Beamer and his legacy of special teams excellence he established for the Hokies.
