BLACKSBURG – Virginia Tech men's tennis wrapped up the 2018 ITA Atlantic Region Championships on Monday in the semifinal round at the Burrows-Burleson Tennis Center.
Senior Jason Kros faced off against Virginia's Ryan Goetz as they battled to three sets. Kros took the opening set 7-5, but Goetz came back in the second to win it 6-4. In the final set, the two went to deuce on several points, but the UVA player held on to win it 6-2.
Virginia Tech will wrap up the fall slate Nov. 2-4 at the Georgia Tech Invitational.

BLACKSBURG – Senior Jason Kros advanced to the semifinals for the Virginia Tech men's tennis team on Sunday at the 2018 ITA Atlantic Region Championships in Blacksburg, Virginia.
Kros opened the day with a 6-4, 6-4 win over Longwood's Amadeo Blasco to move into the afternoon's quarterfinal match.
In the next round, Kros battled against a familiar foe, facing Virginia's Gianni Ross. The two went to a tiebreak in the opening set, but Kros held on to win it 7-6(4). In the second set, Kros rolled to win it 6-3 to move into Monday's semifinals.
Kros will be back on the court for the Hokies beginning at 11:30 a.m. Monday at the Burrows-Burleson Tennis Center.

BLACKSBURG – Three Hokies advanced into the singles round of 16 on Saturday at the 2018 ITA Men's Tennis Atlantic Region Championships at the Burrows-Burleson Tennis Center in Blacksburg.
Mitch Harper rolled to two wins to move on in the singles' draw. He started with a 6-2, 6-1 decision over Radford's Rodrigo Magalhaes. In the second match of the day, Harper knocked off Liberty's Chase Burton 6-1, 6-2.
Jason Kros also rolled to two wins on the second day of main draw competition. Kros opened the day with a 6-2, 6-0 win over Richmond's Cline Evans. He followed up with the 6-2, 6-4 decision to defeat Finbar Talcott of William & Mary.
Tech's Alex Ribeiro defeated Penn State's Zach Lieb in straight sets with scores of 7-5, 6-2. In the second match of the day, Ribeiro battled against Temple's Mark Wallner after giving up the first set 6-4. Ribeiro rallied to win the next two 6-2, 6-2.
The Hokies will be back on the court beginning at 9:30 a.m. tomorrow with singles.

DAY ONE
BLACKSBURG – Virginia Tech opened competition on Friday at the 2018 ITA Atlantic Region Championships, picking up wins in singles and doubles at the Burrows-Burleson Tennis Center in Blacksburg, Virginia.
Henrik Korsgaard knocked off Penn State's Alp Sentay in straight sets, 6-4, 7-5 to advance into the second round of main draw singles. He will be joined in the second round by teammate Chase Bernstine who defeated Howard's Cole Gittens 6-2, 6-0.
Jason Kros, Mitch Harper, Carlo Donato and Alex Ribeiro will also be on the court in singles on Saturday after receiving first round byes.
In doubles, the Hokies cruised through the first two rounds with Korsgaard/Ribeiro, Harper/Donato and Fragistas/Kros all advancing into the round of 16. Unfortunately, the Tech duos all fell in the final round of the day.
Tech and the rest of the region will be back on the court Saturday at 9:30 a.m. with the second round of singles.
