GREENSBORO, N.C. - Virginia Tech senior diver Ben Schiesl has been named the ACC Men's Diver of the Week for Oct. 15 as announced Monday by the league office.
Schiesl helped the Hokies to a 178.5-121.5 win over Duke on Saturday to open the 2018-19 season. The Fairfax, Virginia native was the top finisher on the 1-meter, turning in a score of 384.52. He followed up by adding points to Tech's total on the 3-meter with a fourth place score of 345.30. The All-American posted NCAA A qualifying scores on both events over the weekend.
This marks the first Diver of the Week honor for Schiesl in his career. He and the Hokies will be back in the pool Oct. 26-27 when they host Ohio State and Penn State at the Christiansburg Aquatic Center.
