Hokies set for 2018 ITA Atlantic Region Championships

BLACKSBURG - The Virginia Tech women's tennis team is set to open the 2018 ITA Atlantic Region Championships, beginning on Saturday, Oct. 13 at 9 a.m. in Lynchburg, Virginia at Cook Tennis Center. The event is four days of main draw concluding with the finals on Tuesday, Oct. 16.

THE HOKIES
Four Hokies have qualified for the main draw at the ITA Atlantic Regional Tournament and will be traveling to Lynchburg this weekend to compete, beginning Saturday at 9 a.m. Natalie Novotna enters singles as the top seed in the field and is the defending singles champion from 2017. Also traveling for the Hokies are Nina Sorkin, Nika Kozar and Rita Pinto. Novotna and Pinto are seated fourth in doubles play and received a first round bye. Sorkin and Kozar also received a first round bye and are seeded ninth. Both doubles teams will begin Saturday October 13 at 1 p.m.

THE FIELD
Athletes from Duquense, William and Mary, George Mason, George Washington, Georgetown, Hampton University, James Madison, Liberty, Longwood, Marshall, Old Dominion, Penn State, Radford, St. Joseph's, Towson, Delaware, University of Maryland College Park, the U.S. Naval Academy, Pittsburgh, the University of Richmond, University of Virginia, VCU and West Virginia will all be competing this weekend.
