BLACKSBURG – Thursday afternoon in the James C. Weaver Baseball Center, the Virginia Tech baseball program held its second annual fall world series draft in preparations for the 2018 Maroon & Orange World Series. The teams and schedule are now final, along with information for a second exhibition game, to replace the contest rained out yesterday.
Tech will welcome Florence-Darlington Tech to English Field at Union Park for that second exhibition game next Wednesday. The Hokies and Stingers are set for a 3:30 p.m. first pitch and there is free admission to the game.
The Hokies will also play three games as part of their World Series, with Game 1 set for this Friday, Oct. 12 with a 3:30 p.m. start time. Games 2 and 3 will also have a 3:30 p.m. first pitch and are scheduled for Monday, Oct. 15 and Thursday, Oct. 18. These games are also free to the public.
Captains for the series drafted the teams, with Nic Enright choosing for Maroon and Graham Seitz making the picks for Orange. The teams for the series can be viewed below.
