Fourteen Hokies make opening week NFL 53-man rosters

BLACKSBURG - The NFL transaction wire was humming over the weekend as clubs trimmed their rosters to 53 players on Saturday. The comings and goings around the league continued on Sunday as teams began establishing practice squads.
 
While rosters will continue to ebb and flow throughout the season as the dust settled on Sunday a total of 14 Virginia Tech alums secured spots on NFL active rosters.
 
Seattle Pro Bowl T Duane Brown is the elder statesmen of group, entering his 11th season in the league. Half of the group are rookies as seven players who took the field for Tech in 2017 are now prepared to suit up on the NFL's Kickoff Weekend. Six of those players were draft picks, while CB Brandon Facyson made the Chargers' roster after signing as a rookie free agent.
 
Both Buffalo and Washington own the distinction of boasting three Hokies apiece on their 53-man rosters, while a trio of former teammates in WRs Isaiah Ford, TE Bucky Hodges and WR Cam Phillips all secured spots on NFL practice squads.
 
We'll provide a complete preview of all the Hokies in NFL action coming up later this week. Two games will feature multiple Hokies. QB Tyrod Taylor and the Browns will host S Terrell Edmunds and the Steelers on Sunday, while Buffalo and its trio of Hokies visit S Chuck Clark and the Ravens.
