BLACKSBURG – The 21st-ranked Virginia Tech men's soccer team secured its first league victory of the season in dramatic fashion Friday night, defeating Syracuse in double overtime.
After Camron Lennon dribbled a few defenders and got space for a low shot across the box, the ricochet fell to the right foot of junior forward Nico Quashie who placed his finish in the top corner well out of the reach of Henrik Hilpert in goal.
The goal was Quashie's third of the season and second game winner.

Tech's defense was solid all night, allowing 18 shots, but very few on target, just three which were all met by goalkeeper Mathijs Swaneveld.
The Orange did apply pressure in regards to corner kick, posting seven on the night to the Hokies' two.
The Hokies peppered Hilpert's net in their own right, with 16 total shots on the evening, forcing six saves and of course Quashie's game winner. Kristo Strickler had four shots, two on target and Lennon also added four, while freshman Vincent Jackson II, took three in 49 minutes on the pitch.

- Freshman Vincent Jackson II started up front for the Hokies, earning his first minutes of the season
- Khalil Dover also earned his first career start Friday night
- Swaneveld, the league leader in saves earned his third clean sheet of the season
