Hokies finish 11th at Old Town Club

Old Town Club Final Results

The Virginia Tech men's golf team posted a three-round total of 12-over 852 and finished in 11th place at the inaugural Old Town Club Collegiate Invitational on Tuesday. The two-day tournament was played at the par 70, 6,966-yard Old Town Club in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.

Tech shot a 284 in Monday morning's round and followed that with a 2-over 282 in the afternoon round. The Hokies posted a 286 on Tuesday.
 
Slade Pickering, a sophomore from North West, South Africa, led the Hokies. He tied for 29that 1-over 211. Pickering shot a 1-under 69 in the Monday afternoon round and followed that with an even-par 70 on Tuesday.
 
Connor Johnson Jr., a freshman from Richmond, Virginia and Drew Brockwell, a freshman from Chesterfield, Virginia, tied for 44th place at 214. Connor Burgess, a sophomore from Lynchburg, Virginia tied for 51st at 215 and Joey Jordan, a senior from Richmond, Virginia, tied for 57th at 217. Johnson joined Pickering with 70s on Tuesday.
 
Louisville won the team title with a 30-under 810, one stroke better than host Wake Forest. Rutgers was third at 827, North Carolina was fourth at 828, Notre Dame was fifth at 829, Yale was sixth at 834 and East Carolina was seventh at 835. West Virginia was eighth at 837, East Tennessee State was ninth at 838 and Maryland was 10th at 843, nine strokes ahead of the Hokies. Loyola of Maryland was 12th at 863.
 
The Hokies return to action on Oct. 12-14, as they travel to Jonesborough, Tennessee to compete in the Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate, hosted by East Tennessee State.
