BLACKSBURG – Virginia Tech announces its community partnership and education program, Hokie All-Stars, sponsored by Virginia529.
Hokie All-Stars is open to pre-k to sixth grade. Through the program, participating schools will be able to reward outstanding students (All-Stars) with various prizes from Virginia Tech Athletics. These selections may be made based on the principal/teacher's own criteria (grades, attendance, goals, character, etc.) to motivate the students to succeed.
"Partnering with Virginia Tech on the Hokie All-Stars program is a great way for Virginia529 to reach students, families and educators with impactful academic-based incentives while also providing information on making higher education more accessible and affordable," said Virginia529 CEO Mary Morris.
The purpose of Hokie All-Stars is to add incentives for students to be successful in the classroom and community, as well as recognize the hard work of teachers and students in Southwest Virginia. In addition, students will be given the opportunity to visit a college campus.
This year Hokie All-Stars will include more Virginia Tech Athletics' events and in conjunction with Virginia529, students will be able to claim their prizes via an access code. Classrooms will also have the option to receive collateral from the athletics department to decorate and promote Hokie All-Stars.
