Ian Hildebrand named All-America Scholar

Virginia Tech men's golfer Ian Hildebrand has been named to the 2018 Srixon/Cleveland Golf All-America Scholars team, as awarded by the Golf Coaches Association of America. This is first time on the list for Hildebrand.

Hildebrand, a native of Purcellville, Virginia who finished his career in April for the Hokies, is one of 19 Atlantic Coast Conference student-athletes named to the team.

Hildebrand, who graduated in May with a degree in Finance, is a native of Purcellville, Virginia. He appeared in 10 of the team's 11 matches this season. He was fourth on the team in scoring average, at 73.90 and fifth in final round scoring average, at 74.20. He had a career-best third place finish at the Furman Intercollegiate in March. Earlier this summer, he was named to the 2018 All-ACC Academic Men's Golf Team.

To be eligible for Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America Scholar status, an individual must be a junior or senior academically, compete in at least three full years at the collegiate level, participate in 50 percent of his team's competitive rounds or compete in the NCAA Championships, have a stroke-average under 76.0 and maintain a minimum cumulative grade-point average of 3.2. A recipient must also be of high moral character and be in good standing at his college or university.
