Hokie Club adds Goff, Mulcahy as associate directors of major gifts

BLACKSBURG – The Hokie Club announced on Tuesday that Matt Goff and Tristan Mulcahy have joined the organization as associate directors of major gifts.

"We are excited to have Matt and Tristan join our fundraising team," senior associate AD of development Bill Lansden said. "As former collegiate student-athletes they understand the importance of providing our young men and women the resources necessary to be successful in the classroom and in their respective areas of competition."

"Matt and Tristan have been successful professionals throughout their fundraising careers thus far and we look forward to their bringing their talents to Blacksburg and assisting in the positive momentum within the Hokie Club and Virginia Tech Athletics," associate AD of major gifts David Everett added.

Goff comes to Tech following a four-year stint at Navy where he played an integral role in $70 million capital campaign that benefitted Navy's football stadium, golf course renovations and a student-athlete center project.

He oversaw all major donor stewardship events, including the AE Golf Classic and head coaches dinner, as well as managing hospitality suites during home sporting events. Goff solicited premium seating sales for home football games, as well.

Prior to his time at the Naval Academy, Goff worked at American University, the NCAA and James Madison. The Fairfax, Virginia native earned his undergraduate and graduate degrees from JMU, while playing football for the Dukes. Goff's wife, Chelsea, has strong ties to Virginia Tech on her side of the family with seven Tech alums and two family members currently enrolled in Blacksburg.

Mulcahy enters his first year in Blacksburg after working four years at St. Bonaventure where he assisted with fundraising functions for annual support, capital improvements and scholarships for all 17 sports. He oversaw more than 1,000 donors of the Bonnies Athletic Fund, with his primary responsibility working with men's basketball and its Sixth Man Club.

He assisted in the completion of the $2 million dollar fields project for softball and soccer and in securing $500,000 for a center-hung video board at the Reilly Center. Mulcahy was involved with the student-athlete parent solicitation and the Pivot Society, which supports the women's basketball program.

No stranger to the ACC, Mulcahy worked at Boston College and Wake Forest prior to his time at St. Bonaventure. The St. Mary's, Pennsylvania native is a former baseball student-athlete at St. Bonaventure and earned his master's degree at California University of Pennsylvania. His wife, Andrea, serves as a women's basketball assistant coach for the Bonnies.
